The Green Belt to the North and West of Brockworth is at risk.
Proposed future development threatens this last open space in our village. Following recent housing developments in Brockworth we are campaigning for a halt in the relentless swallowing up of our green fields. The latest proposals of 1500 homes will see Brockworth increase in population by 50 percent. The scale of this proposed development is too great and will result in another 'Coopers Edge'( a local housing development of 1900 houses) spreading across the surrounding landscape. Coopers Edge has yet to be completed with a thousand houses yet to be built. Homes already built there have yet to be sold. Future housing need is under review, and there is little evidence that an increase in building, of this magnitude, is required.
We want to preserve and protect this special landscape and save it for future generations. We need to balance the need for new homes with the need to conserve the landscape
We are also concerned about the erosion of our countryside nationally and not just around Brockworth
We have been in contact with Campaign to Protect Rural England CPRE. They are supporting our cause and have submitted a report to TBC
